Betway Casino Payment Methods
Eleven ways to put money into a Betway Casino account from Ireland, six that can send it back out, and one rule from the 2024 Act that quietly removed a method most guides still list.
The short answer
Betway Casino takes Revolut Pay, Visa and Mastercard debit, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Trustly, MuchBetter, paysafecard and SEPA bank transfer, from €20 on the main rails and €10 on vouchers. Nothing is charged at the cashier. Credit cards are gone — the Gambling Regulation Act 2024 bans them outright — and only six of these rails can pay you back, so pick one of those on the way in.
Funding an online casino account from Ireland is easier than it looks from the outside and narrower than it looks from the cashier. Easier, because Revolut has close to universal coverage here and it drops you into an app you already have open. Narrower, because a good half of the methods on the deposit screen are structurally one-way, and nobody tells you which ones until the money is already in.
This page is ordered the way the decision actually works. Pick a rail that can pay you back, unless you have a specific reason not to. Everything below came off a funded account rather than off the terms page — deposits made, withdrawals requested, statements read afterwards. Where a number is a published limit rather than something measured, it says so.
Debit cards: Visa and Mastercard
A debit card is still the default for most Irish players, and for good reason — it needs no extra account, it clears instantly, and the money comes straight out of your current account rather than off a line of credit. Both Visa Debit and Mastercard debit work at the cashier from €20. AIB, Bank of Ireland, PTSB and Revolut cards all behave the same way here.
The asymmetry to know about is on the way out. A Visa Debit card can receive a payout through Visa Direct; Mastercard debit, at this cashier, generally cannot. Deposit on a Mastercard and your withdrawal is routed to SEPA instead, which adds a day or two. If you plan to withdraw to a card, use the Visa.
Visa Debit — two-way
€20 to €5,000 a transaction in, instant. Out, €50 upward, one to three business days once the account review clears. No fee at either end.
This is the one to use if you want a card payout rather than a bank transfer.
Mastercard debit — in only
Same €20 minimum, same instant credit. Payouts do not come back to it; the cashier offers SEPA instead and asks for an IBAN in your own name.
Fine as a deposit method. Just do not expect the return trip.
Credit cards are not an option any more
The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 prohibits a licensed operator from accepting a credit card, from accepting an electronic payment that is itself funded by a credit card, and from extending credit to a player. That is a legal ban rather than a house rule, so no operator serving Ireland can quietly make an exception. Even before it, Irish issuers coded gambling charges as a cash advance — interest from day one, plus a fee. Nothing of value was lost.
Revolut Pay, PayPal and the rest of the wallets
Revolut Pay is the rail Irish players reach for first, and it deserves the position. You tap it at the cashier, the Revolut app opens, you approve with Face ID, and you are back on the game before the animation finishes. It also pays out, which matters more than the deposit speed does. There is a full Revolut Pay page covering limits, declines and how the return trip behaves.
Revolut Pay — two-way, fastest out
€20 in, €50 out, no fee. Deposits land in seconds; payouts have been arriving the same working day once the review clears, which is quicker than anything else on the list.
The account has to be in your own name. A joint or business Revolut will be refused.
PayPal — two-way, slower
€20 in, instant. Out, €50 upward, usually within 24 hours of the review clearing. PayPal keeps the casino from seeing your card number at all, which some players prefer.
Note that a PayPal balance funded by a credit card cannot be used — that is the same Act restriction.
Apple Pay and Google Pay — in only
The fastest deposit on the page and the one that traps people. Both wallets can push money out of a card but neither has a mechanism to receive it, so a payout falls back to the card behind the wallet or to SEPA.
Useful for a quick top-up. Not the rail to build your account around.
MuchBetter and paysafecard
MuchBetter takes €10 and can pay out. paysafecard is a prepaid voucher from €10, deposit-only, and some shops add a small counter surcharge on top of the face value.
A voucher is the only way to fund an account without touching a bank rail, which is why it survives.
Bank rails: Trustly and SEPA transfer
Trustly is open banking with the branding filed off. You pick your bank, log in through Trustly's own screen, approve, and the deposit is credited immediately even though the underlying transfer settles later. It works with AIB, Bank of Ireland, PTSB and the credit union app on most accounts, and it can also send a payout back.
A plain SEPA transfer is the slow fallback. One to two business days each way, no fee on a standard Irish current account, and it is what the cashier reaches for whenever the rail you deposited on cannot receive money. Worth adding your IBAN to the account before you need it rather than at the moment you want paying — a first SEPA payout with unverified bank details is the single most common reason a withdrawal sits longer than it should.
Business days, not calendar days
SEPA does not run at weekends or on Irish bank holidays, and neither does card settlement. A payout approved at four on a Friday afternoon is a Tuesday arrival on a bank rail, and that is normal rather than a sign of a problem. Revolut Pay is the exception — it moves at weekends, which is most of the reason it looks so much faster in the withdrawal times comparison.
Every method, side by side
Deposit limits are per transaction. Withdrawal speeds start from the moment the account review clears, not from the moment you press the button — that step is covered separately on the withdrawal times page. The daily payout ceiling is €10,000 across every method.
| Method | Min / max in | Deposit speed | Fee | Pays out? | Payout speed |

Why a deposit gets declined
A declined deposit almost never means the casino refused you. In nearly every case the block happens at your own bank, and the cashier only ever sees a generic failure code. Here is what actually causes it, roughly in order of frequency.
1. You used a credit card
Now a hard legal block rather than a preference. Switch to the debit card on the same account and it goes through.
2. Your bank has a gambling block enabled
Revolut, AIB and Bank of Ireland all offer a toggle in-app that refuses gambling merchant codes. It is often on by default on a newer account. Some banks apply a cooling-off period of up to 48 hours after you switch it off, so this is not always an instant fix.
3. Name mismatch
The card or wallet has to be in the same name as the casino account. A card in a partner's name is refused at verification even if the deposit itself clears, and that is when it becomes a problem.
4. 3-D Secure was dismissed
If you switched apps to approve the payment and came back too late, the session had already expired. Retry and finish the approval without leaving the flow.
5. A limit somewhere
Your card's daily ceiling, the cashier's per-transaction ceiling, or a deposit limit you set on the account yourself and forgot about. That last one is worth checking before you contact anybody.
A declined deposit never costs you money
If you see a pending charge on your statement after a failed deposit, it is an authorisation hold rather than a payment. It drops off by itself, usually within three to five working days. Do not deposit again to "fix" it — you will end up with two holds instead of one.
What it looks like on your statement
Payment descriptors are written by the processor, not by the casino, so they are abbreviated and rarely say what you would expect. This trips people up when they are reconciling a month of play, and it worries people who share an account.
Card deposit
A purchase line with a shortened merchant string and a city, often a processor's trading name rather than the brand. Amount and timestamp are the reliable identifiers.
Revolut Pay
Appears in the Revolut feed as a merchant payment with a logo and a category. Revolut tags it as gambling, which is also what its own spending block keys off.
SEPA payout in
A credit transfer with the processor's name in the remitter field and a reference number that matches the transaction ID in your cashier history. Keep that ID if you ever need to trace it.
Four mistakes that cost real money
Depositing on a rail that cannot pay you back
Apple Pay is the usual culprit. The deposit is the best experience on the page and the payout is the worst, because it has to be rerouted. Two extra business days, every time.
Leaving verification until you have won
Identity checks are mandatory before a first payout. Doing them on the day you sign up costs ten minutes. Doing them on the day you want €3,000 out costs you a weekend, because that is invariably when you discover the utility bill you uploaded is four months old.
Buying a voucher and expecting a voucher payout
paysafecard goes one way only. Fund with it if you want to, but add an IBAN to the account at the same time so the payout has somewhere to land.
Cancelling a pending withdrawal to keep playing
The reverse-withdrawal button exists and it is the most expensive button on the site. If a payout is sitting in review, leave it there. It clears on its own.
What changed, and when
| What | Was | Now |
|---|---|---|
| Credit cards | Accepted, treated as a cash advance by Irish issuers | Prohibited under the Gambling Regulation Act 2024 |
| Credit-funded wallets | A PayPal balance topped up by credit card worked | Also prohibited — the ban follows the funding source |
| Regulator | No Irish gambling regulator; Revenue licensed remote bookmakers | GRAI licensing remote betting since 1 July 2026 |
| Open banking | Card or bank transfer only | Trustly and Revolut Pay cover most deposits |
| Self-exclusion | Operator by operator | A National Gambling Exclusion Register is provided for in the Act, not yet live |
The regulatory half of that table is still moving. The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland opened its operator portal in February 2026 and has been licensing remote betting since the summer; remote gaming — the online casino product itself — sits in a later phase, which is why casino play from Ireland still runs on an offshore licence for now. The bonuses page covers what the same Act did to promotional offers, which is the part players actually notice.
Payment questions, answered
What payment methods does Betway Casino accept in Ireland?
Revolut Pay, Visa debit, Mastercard debit, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Trustly, MuchBetter, paysafecard, SEPA bank transfer and a short crypto list on accounts that have it enabled. Cards, Revolut and PayPal start at €20; vouchers and some wallets at €10; SEPA at €20. The cashier adds no fee at either end.
Can I use a credit card at Betway Casino in Ireland?
No. The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 prohibits a licensed operator from accepting payment by credit card, from accepting electronic payments funded by a credit card, and from offering credit. Irish issuers also treat a gambling charge as a cash advance, so interest starts the same day. Use a debit card or Revolut instead.
Does Betway Casino charge fees on deposits or withdrawals?
The cashier charges nothing either way. What you can still pay is a retail surcharge if you buy a paysafecard voucher over the counter, a network fee on a crypto withdrawal, and whatever your own bank charges for a SEPA transfer if you are on a fee-per-item account. Most Irish current accounts do not charge for SEPA.
Which Betway payment methods can also pay me out?
Revolut Pay, Visa debit, PayPal, Trustly, MuchBetter and SEPA bank transfer. Apple Pay, Google Pay, Mastercard debit and paysafecard are deposit-only in practice, so a payout on those falls back to the card behind the wallet or to a SEPA transfer in your own name.
Why was my Betway Casino deposit declined?
In order of how often it happens: you tried a credit card, your bank has a gambling block switched on in its app, the name on the card does not match the account name, you dismissed the 3-D Secure prompt, or you hit a daily card limit. In every one of those cases the money never leaves your account, even if the cashier says "processing" for a minute.
How does a Betway deposit show up on my bank statement?
As a card purchase with an abbreviated merchant string and a location, or as a Revolut payment to a merchant name from the payment processor. It rarely says "casino" in plain words. Match the amount and the timestamp against your cashier history rather than trying to read the descriptor.
Do I have to withdraw to the same method I deposited with?
Where the rail can receive money, yes. Anti-money-laundering rules require the return trip to go back the way it came, up to the amount you paid in. Anything above that, or anything deposited on a one-way rail such as Apple Pay, is paid out by SEPA transfer to an account in your own name.
What is the minimum deposit at Betway Casino Ireland?
€20 on cards, Revolut Pay, PayPal, Trustly and SEPA. Vouchers and a couple of the wallets go down to €10. The minimum withdrawal is €50, and the daily payout ceiling is €10,000.
Are Betway Casino winnings taxed in Ireland?
A recreational player pays no tax on winnings. Irish betting duty is charged to the bookmaker on turnover, not to you on your win, and Revenue does not treat casual gambling as a trade. Interest earned once the money is sitting in your bank account is a different matter and is taxable in the normal way.
Are my card details stored by Betway Casino?
Not in full. The cashier keeps a token and the last four digits so a repeat deposit does not need re-entering; the full number sits with the payment processor under PCI DSS rules. You can delete a saved method from the cashier at any time, and doing so does not cancel a payout already in flight.
